On July 10-11, 2024, the partners of the REBORN project gathered at the University of Porto, Portugal, for the M19 Project Review Meeting.
Workshop on July 10th
On July 10th, a workshop was held at the i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde. This session focused on Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery and allowed project partners to explore the state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge machinery at the University of Porto. The experience provided valuable insights into advanced technologies relevant to the project.
Review Meeting on July 11th
The Review Meeting took place on July 11th, featuring presentations from project partners, external experts, and representatives from the European Commission. The session began with Dr. Chiara Vitale from Politecnico di Torino, REBORN Project Coordinator, and Adelino Leite Moreira from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, offering a comprehensive overview of the REBORN project.
Project partners from Politecnico di Torino discussed Project Management, Risk Assessment, and Ethical Issues. The Universidade de Coimbra covered Specifications, Requirements, and Benchmarking, while Politecnico di Torino also presented on Multifunctional Biomaterials and REBORN Technology.
European Commission Advisor Razvan Anistoroaei presented on behalf of the European Commission, while External Project Officer Brandus Bitel also provided valuable input.
The morning session continued with several key presentations. Lisa Bregoli from Warrant Hub – European Funding Development discussed Quality and Risk Management, IPR, and the data management plan. Diana Nascimento from i3S shared insights on ethical frameworks and best practices. Lino Ferreira from Universidade de Coimbra presented on drug selection and release kinetics. Simon Weber from Cellogic provided an overview of the benchmarking of available clinical solutions, and Carolina Toro Marquez from Santorini Scientific discussed Specifications of the in vitro heart chamber.
Further presentations included Andrea Cafarelli from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna on ultrasound stimulation and FEM models, and Sofia Sirolli from the same institution on the development of ultrasound stimulation systems. Sonia Fiorilli from Politecnico di Torino discussed Multifunctional Biomaterials and REBORN Technologies, while Jacopo Barberi presented on biomaterial formulations for electrospinning. Alice Benedetto Mas and Giorgia Montalbano showcased their work on Multifunctional Smart Carriers and core-shell fibers. Kenneth Dalgarno from Newcastle University shared insights on biomaterial formulations for bioprinting.
